There's a saying around my house: Everything tastes better with a little bacon. It's always been true for Brussels sprouts. Now, thanks to Unique Eats host Lee Anne Wong, it's true for cookies, too.

Using bacon fat in addition to butter makes her Bacon Chocolate Chip Cookies rich and moist, and the bits of bacon studded throughout make a salty complement to the chocolate. Think of chocolate covered pretzels taken to the next level — sweet, salty and crunchy all at once. She made them once for the Foo Fighters and the band ate dozens in minutes. You may never bother with plain old chocolate chip cookies again: Why would you, when you can bake bacony ones that rock?
12 Days of Cookies:
What do you like to add to chocolate chip cookies to take them over the edge?

Melanie Rehak, author of Eating for Beginners, has been baking cookies since she was old enough to climb onto the kitchen stool. She's partial to Zimtsterne—cinnamon stars—for the holidays, but loves most cookies all year long.
