Spicy Sweet Potato Wedges with Maple Dipping Sauce

Who needs French fries when you can make these sweet potato wedges? The secret is in the spice combination. Perfectly balanced in every way, these wedges taste delicious, especially when dipped in the maple dipping sauce.

Ingredients

2 pounds sweet potatoes (about 3 large)

2 tablespoons light brown sugar

1 tablespoon smoked paprika

1 tablespoon kosher salt

2 teaspoons chili powder

1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper

4 tablespoons olive oil

Maple Dipping Sauce, for serving, recipe follows

Maple Dipping Sauce:

1/2 cup sour cream

1/4 cup mayonnaise

2 tablespoons pure maple syrup

Kosher salt and cracked black pepper

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 500 degrees F. 
  2. Cut the sweet potatoes into 1/2-inch wedges and set aside. 
  3. Mix together the brown sugar, paprika, salt, chili powder and cayenne in a large bowl. Add the sweet potatoes to the bowl and drizzle with the olive oil, tossing to completely coat. 
  4. Transfer the wedges to a wire rack situated on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil. Roast until the edges start to brown and crisp, about 25 minutes. Serve with the Maple Dipping Sauce.

Maple Dipping Sauce:

  1. Combine the sour cream, mayonnaise and maple syrup together and mix to thoroughly combine. Season with salt and pepper.
