2. Freddie King - Butterscotch

The great blues guitar player Freddie King penned this instrumental ode to the ooey-gooey wonder that is butterscotch. It has no words, but if it did, he’d probably sing about how great butterscotch is to pair with ice cream.

3. New Edition - Candy Girl

The fresh-faced lads of New Edition wowed the world in 1983, with their hit jingle about girls and candy. Or is it a girl made out of candy? Or maybe it’s just a girl who happens to have a lot of candy. In any event, they were kids. The song was definitely about candy.

4. Fantasia - Collard Greens and Cornbread

This hit by sensation Fantasia chronicles a mother’s home cooking. It uses a riff from Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell’s “Your Precious Love,” which touches on a sentiment we’ve often felt toward collard greens and cornbread.

5. Anthony Hamilton - Cornbread, Fish and Collard Greens

We’ve covered our feelings about collard greens and cornbread. Add fish into the mix and you got yourself one heck of an R&B anthem. This is the perfect song to put on while you get busy working out a meal in the kitchen.

6. Fats Domino - Blueberry Hill

Wait, an entire hill made out of blueberries?! No wonder Fats Domino found his thrill while scaling that delicious, decadent cliff. Doesn’t the name “Blueberry Hill” remind you of a fro-yo shop?

7. The Supremes - Buttered Popcorn

Diana Ross and The Supremes sure seem to love buttered popcorn a whole lot: The words show up in this song at least two dozen times. The refrain “more butter, more butter, more butter” is probably not too acceptable in this health-conscious day and age. Eh, screw it! More butter, more butter, more butter.

8. Rihanna - Birthday Cake

One can argue that the best part of any birthday celebration is the titular cake, preferably with chocolate icing and sprinkles. Lots and lots of sprinkles. Rihanna totally gets it.

9. Maroon 5 - Kiwi

Maroon 5 consistently straddle the line between modern rock and modern R&B. This song errs on the latter side. Additionally, it’s about delicious kiwis. Note: Kiwis are a great addition to your morning smoothies.

10. Nicki Minaj - Truffle Butter

Truffle butter is admired by foodies the world over, so it only makes sense that there would be a song dedicated to its umami-based brilliance. Please, do not Google what this song actually is about. Let’s keep our innocence.

11. Laura Mvula - Bread

This soothing, subtle R&B number is just like the food product advertised in the title, comforting and pretty delicious. South Beach Diet fanatics may want to steer clear of this one, however.
