Season 1, Episode 9

Charleston

Chef Jordan Andino continues his tour of the South in Charleston, S.C. He starts off at one of the city's finest taprooms, Craftsmen Kitchen and Tap House, where each menu item is expertly crafted to pair with one of their many beers. Jordan tucks into crowd-pleasing, Mexican-style street fare with a zesty scallop ceviche and roasted street corn. He also tries the Crunchy Dame, an old French favorite -- the croque madame -- that reaches new levels of Southern decadence with the addition of pork belly and cherry jam. Next, he heads to the city's most glamorous diner, The Rarebit, where the chef is cooking the way his grandma taught him. Jordan learns the secrets behind the mouthwatering shrimp and grits and tries a real Southern staple, fried chicken and waffles. Lastly, it wouldn't be a trip to the South without some award-winning barbecue, so Jordan ends his journey at Home Team BBQ. They knock pulled pork nachos out of the park, and Jordan finishes off the night with one of his favorites, smoked wings with Alabama white sauce.
